Can I Just Do It One....Maybe Two More Times??

Those are the words I used to convice Vince to allow me one, maybe two (or three) more foster litters....Here are pictures of the first one! Nine, yes nine!, beautiful kittens!!!

Up, up and away

Today we had an amazing opportunity to do something we have never done. Holly and her dad and myself woke up early and headed out to the Plano Balloon Festival to go up in one of the 65 balloons that were partaking in the festivities. It was a surreal morning as the launch of the balloons was delayed over half an hour due to no wind. It is rare here in North Texas that we don't have any wind and they said in the 25 year history of the festival that is has only happened twice. As the sun came up the wind increased and we were ready for launch.

Our pilot was named Mike and he and his crew are based out of Albuquerque. He does over 250 flights a year (Holly was much relieved to hear that when we were ascending into the air!). There were many cool balloons that went up with us and many of them didn't make it very far due to there sheer size and lack of wind. The flight was very calm and we got as high as 1200 feet off the ground. This was the point where Holly's hand turned blue from grabbing onto the wicker basket so tight. It was a little freaky standing on a wicker basket that high in the air, but the views were worth it. It was fun floating over neighborhoods and seeing people working in there yards and waving to little kids playing in soccer games. We landed in a park and it was funny watching random people come out of nowhere to help us get the balloon down and under control. All and all it was a great ride and we will definitely be doing it again in the future. Thanks Rod and Marian.

We are having a great time with Rod and Marian in town, always a pleasure. Monopoly is getting a little out of hand. More later.

What a weekend it was

We had the opportunity to get away from the craziness of Hurricane Ike that was suppose to bring all this rain and wind and tornadoes (Which in reality only brought about an inch of rain to us in North Dallas). Our friends down south in Houston had it a bit worse than we did; please pray for those people that have been affected by that storm.

With all that happening in Texas, we were 1200 miles away in the crisp autumn air of Denver, Colorado. We came into town to celebrate my mom and dad's 30th wedding anniversary and to see family, oh and to watch a little football of course. What we thought was going to be just a big game, turned out to be one of the greatest football game's I have ever attended. What a blessing it was to be apart of it all. Granted it took a little luck on our part to get the win, but a win is a win. T came out with 2 TD's and one huge tackle. It is awesome to see my little bro doing so well.

It was great to see Richelle and Braiden as well as spend time with the folks. We had a great dinner after the game downtown to celebrate Tony and Gwen's 30th anniversary. With only three years of marriage under our belts, it's crazy to think of that times ten! Way to go mom and dad, here is to another 30!

19 and 1/2 in long

After a long labor, the nurses and doctor decided to perform a C-Section on Jamie. Good thing they did...Lainey's umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck (no harm was done to Lainey, it just made it impossible to birth her naturally). Jamie and the Lainey are doing well. Nick and Jamie are overjoyed and tired. Here are some pictures from last night (or early this morning...)

Update

As of 8:30pm on the 1st, Jamie is dialted and in natural labor. The nurse is expecting Lainey around 2am!! Will post again tomorrow!

Lainey is coming!!

At 3:18pm I got a text from Jamie and a call from Nick. It's time...Jamie's water broke and she is at the hospital. I will keep you posted and hopefully have pictures soon. Please pray that everything will go smoothly for Jamie and Lainey. I know Jamie and Nick can't wait to meet her and we want her to have a safe and smooth delivery.
