Sweet Teeth
Today Vince and I had pretty serious sweet cravings. A few weeks back we went to our friend Amy's wedding. Her favors were these AMAZING chocolate chip cookies. When she got back from her honeymoon, I immediately asked her where she got them. Turns out, they are from this little hole-in-the-wall bakery in Highland Park called JD's Chippery. We drove there today. after church and a delicious Snappy Salads lunch, only find they are closed on Sundays. I almost cried, then remembered we were very near a Sprinkles Cupcake store. So, we headed there and bought half a dozen :) I devoured my red velvet cupcake and half my peanut butter chip one. Vince ate his lemon cupcake in about 10 seconds flat and ate the other half of my peanut butter one. If you have never had one before, you need to experience it. Fan-frickin'-tastic! We crashed so hard from all the sugar we both took a LONG nap with belly's full and sweet teeth satisfied!

MacGyver?
Apparently this company thinks Vince is MacGyver. Here's the story:
So, for our 2nd annviersary my parents got us this awesome in-home composter. It's small, doesn't smell and just hangs out in the garage...it's been so great. Well, about a month or so ago, Vince put some corn husks into it (a BIG no-no!). The husks got tangled up in the mixing stick and the motor broke. Vince emailed the company and they replied saying they would send a replacement motor. Excellent! Well, the motor came in the mail yesterday and when Vince opened it up he said, "Um, where are the directions?" Sure enough they sent us just the motor in a box....
Yeah, they definately think Vince is MacGyver. And, I kinda think Vince thinks he's MacGyver too...I will let you know how it goes!

Back to School
I have spent the last week taking lots and lots of staff development courses, setting up my classroom and getting ready for the first week of school. I am tired and I haven't even started! Tonight was "Meet the Teacher Night!" I met most of my students, some shy, some not...all happy to be back and see their friends. Most parents seemed happy to know that I am there child's teacher....which is always a good way to start the year! I am ready to start...just not ready to get up early on Monday morning!!!

Weekend Fun
This past weekend Vince and I enjoyed a vacation about 25 minutes away to a fancy hotel near downtown Dallas(Hotel Palomar, for all you Dallas people). It was wonderful, we slept in, ordered room service, had delicious dinners out and spent lots of quality time together. I feel more rested and ready to start school next week. We only took this one picture at dinner...we were so relaxed we forgot to take pics! Sorry.

Then on Sunday, I went to my dear friend Lexi's baby shower. She is expecting a little girl, Isabella and as you can see she is glowing!

Tear...
I had to take Pear back today. I am going to miss her. She really started to become a part of the family...so it was good that we ended it when we did. So, it's official...Pear is up for adoption starting this weekend. Whoever gets her is getting a sweet, lovable, energetic dog who still poops on the carpet!

JLP
That stands for the Junior League of Plano. My friend Rhonda and I officially joined the JLP on Saturday with our provisional retreat. Well, I guess we won't be official until we complete our provisional year. It will be a huge commitment, but very rewarding and worthwhile. We got a lot of information, met some really fun women and are looking forward to many opportunities to improve our community, help a large number of adults and youth in Collin County and make some new, lasting friendships. Here are some highlights from the retreat:
- stressing about dressing "summer chic" (if you know me for a minute you know I am anything but chic!)
- meeting our advisor and learning that she loves MiCocina as much as we do
- pretty pink princess (a lady in our group who dresses like a princess for kids birthdays)
- learning our "color" (or personality) and hearing them describe me perfectly as they described GREEN.
- anticipating many fun events like the Gala, Wine Tasting, My Favorite Things at Neiman's and of course, 'Neath the Wreath (which Rhonda will be a vendor at this year and I her assistant)
- leaving feeling comfortable and accepted into an organization that truly makes a difference
